~ Han Solo, Star Wars
Scientists have developed a "tractor beam" that uses lasers to heat up the air around an object. This temperature difference is the key to directing the object's movement. Since it needs air to work it won't be viable in space, but they're already coming up with ideas for using the technology. Check out in this article for more info.
That's pretty darn cool! Thanks for sharing. I'm gonna show this to my "scientist" 7-year old, and to my star wars loving nephews!

Cool. Now when they invent a replicator that can make gourmet food, I'll really be impressed. Beam me up, Scotty.
ReplyDeleteAmazing - I love science.
ReplyDeleteWhat will they think of next? Amazing device for sure. I want one for my home! LOL!
ReplyDeleteCool idea, now if they can come up with an automatic toilet seat downer thing that doesn't require a husband's touch. That would be great. garrettsambo@aol.com
